Giulio Boccaletti

Giulio Boccaletti is an author, entrepreneur and senior executive. He holds a PhD and MA from Princeton University and an MSc in Physics from University of Bologna. He began his career as a scientist at MIT. He joined McKinsey & Company in 2005 where he became a partner, one of the leaders of its Sustainability and Resource Productivity Practice, and an expert in economic development, infrastructure, and resource security. He then was the chief strategy officer of The Nature Conservancy, the largest conservation organization in the world. 

In 2021 he co-founded Chloris Geospatial, a US venture-backed spacetech company. He has also been the scientific director of the EuroMediterranean Centre on Climate Change. He has contributed to several documentary series for PBS/BBC Studios. Most recently, he was executive producer of "The Future of Nature", which was first broadcast on PBS in 2025. 

His book "Water, a biography" published by Pantheon (Penguin Random House) was translated into 10 languages and was named by The Economist one of its Best Books of the Year in 2021. His most recent book "The Environmental Republic, why citizens will save the world", examines the role of republican theory in tackling contemporary environmental challenges and was published by Princeton University Press in 2026. He lives between Milan and London.
