Leonard weber

Leonard Weber is a policy-oriented economist working at the intersection of macroeconomics, ecological economics, and global sustainability transitions. He is currently a project researcher at the Institute for Ecological Economics at WU Vienna, where his work focuses on material flows, critical minerals, global solidarity levies, and the macroeconomic and environmental implications of the green transition.

He holds an M.A. in Economic Policies for the Global Transition (summa cum laude) from WU Vienna and Sciences Po–Sorbonne, with prior studies in international relations and economics, including at SOAS University of London. His research has been presented at international conferences, including the LSE, and spans issues such as deforestation driven by EV supply chains and macrofinancial risks linked to resource extraction.

Leonard brings experience from academic research institutes, EU-facing policy environments, and parliamentary work in the German Bundestag, complemented by extensive international experience and long-standing engagement in climate and social justice movements.
