Carlo Bastasin is Senior Fellow at LEAP and at Brookings Institution (Washington). Since 2014 he has taught European Economic Governance at Luiss University. He is a columnist for La Repubblica. Among his latest books are The Rise and Fall of the Italian Economy with Gianni Toniolo (Cambridge University Press, 2023), Journey to the End of the West (Luiss University Press, 2019) and Saving Europe (Brookings Institution Press, 2015).

Sergio De Nardis studied at the Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Essex in England. He was a researcher at Isco, senior economist at the Confindustria Study Center, director of macroeconomics at Isae, Chief economist at Nomisma, and director of Macroeconomic Analysis at Upb (Parliamentary Budget Office). He is a member of the scientific committee of the Masi FoundaMon, of the Istat research laboratories, of the Advisory board of the Italian Economy journal, and of the editorial board of Inpiù. He has been a member of the editorial board of the ICE Report, the Journal of Economic Policy, and the scientific committee of l'Industria. He has held teaching positions at the Luiss-Guido Carli University, the University of Urbino, and the Higher School of Economics and Finance. He is the author, alone or in collaboration, of essays published in Italian and international academic journals and of monographic volumes on the issues of privatization, on the labour market, on the model of specialization, and on the behaviour of firms in international integration.

Lorenzo Bini Smaghi holds a degree in Economic Sciences from the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and a Ph.D in Economic Sciences from the University of Chicago. He began his career in 1983 as an economist in the Research Department of the Bank of Italy. In 1994, he was appointed Head of the Policy Division of the European Monetary Institute.

In October 1998, he took up the position of DirectorGeneral of International Financial Relations in the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance. He was Chairman of SACE from 2001 to 2005. From June 2005 to December 2011, he was a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank.

From 2012 to 2016, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of SNAM (Italy). From 2016 to 2019, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Italgas (Italy). He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Societe Generale since 2015.

Stefano Micossi is Advisor on strategies and policies, Assonime, a business association and think tank in Rome and Visiting Fellow at European University Institute; he was formerly Director General in Assonime (1999-2022) and a Director General in the European Commission (1995-99), director of economic research in Confindustria (1988-94) and an economist in the Research Department of the Bank of Italy (1973-88), where he rose to the rank of Director of International research; in 2016 he was appointed Honorary Professor at the College of Europe, after teaching there as visiting professor for almost twenty years

Cinzia Bianco is a visiting fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, where she is working on political, security and economic developments in the Arabian Peninsula and Gulf region and relations with Europe.

Eleanor Spaventa is Professor of European Union Law at Bocconi Law School, Milan (Italy). She previously worked at the law schools of Durham, Birmingham and Cambridge Universities (UK); in 2014 she held a Christopherson/Knott fellowship at the Institute for Advance Studies in Durham and a Fernard Braudel Senior Fellowship at the European University Institute. Eleanor has also held various visiting appointments including Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Natolin (2009-2012).

Eleanor's research interests lie in European Union Law and in particular in the fields of European constitutional law, free movement, fundamental rights, Union citizenship and Brexit. Her work is widely referred to including by by Advocates General of the European Court of Justice and she has been invited to provide written evidence on the Lisbon Treaty by the House of Lords Constitution Committee and has submitted evidence (and was quoted in the final report) to the Ministry of Justice as part of the balance of competences review on Fundamental rights. She was also invited to give oral evidence to the Scottish Parliament on citizens' rights after Brexit.

Eleanor has authored studies for the European Parliament's PETI Committee on Article 51 of the Charter; and on Citizens' rights after Brexit.

Eleanor is an analytical expert for the MoveS network (previously FreSsco), a network of independent experts on the free movement of workers and social security funded by the European Commission to provide expert guidance in these fields; she has co-authored two reports on barriers to movement and atypical employment.
